“One of the most courageous things I can ever do is admit that something I was sure was true, isn't.”
- Carol Webster
Module 2
Introduction:
Everyone wants to know the truth, right? Or do we? One of the bravest things anyone can do is admit that something they believed was true, isn't. It takes courage to decide to look more deeply at our unconscious patterns, but this is the way to freedom! Freedom from that voice that tells you "you are not good enough" or "you are too good"... soo
What if I don't like the truth?
For example, if I roughly reprimanded my child for speaking disrespectfully to me, I may feel justified because it is a “parents' job to correct their children” when the truth is, being gentle and patient would have been more effective, but I lacked the maturity and strength at that moment to do it.
It takes courage to decide to look more deeply at a pattern.
There are a lot of examples where we need to apply "bravely seeing truth":
Truth about myself and who I really am
Truth about the nature of my relationship to others, especially people close to me
Truth about others that I love (or dislike)
Truth about what I believe and value - either in being honest about what I truly value (as opposed to what I think I "should" value) or realizing that what I have been valuing is actually not a good value or belief
What do you know for sure is true?
Why do you believe it is true?
Does everyone believe it is true?
Can you find any exception?
